2022 TNB-MHC National Under 16 Boys and Girls Hockey Tournament

The TNB-MHC National Under 16 Boys and Girls Hockey Tournament will be held in Bukit Jalil Hockey Stadium from 15 – 25 June 2022. A total of 30 umpires were selected for these combined tournaments. They will be guided by Ahmad Fahlawi from Penang and assisted by K. Lingam from PahangMost of young umpires have potential to become better umpires with more games exposure and the right guidance for them. State HA should take the important role to guide them and assist their development.

This tournament is the perfect platform for the majority of the Class 3 umpires to gain the necessary exposure to improve their standings to the next level. The presence of some seniors in this tournament was also significant to help the new umpires adjust to their new surroundings. We wish to see more umpiring talents emerge from our age group tournaments to have a strong base in our talent pool for the future.

TUN ABDUL RAZAK CUP 2020

Our premier inter-state hockey tournament, the Tun Abdul Razak Cup was held at the National Hockey Stadium from 20th to 28th September 2020. The tournament was combined together with both Men’s and Women’s categories. To cater for the huge number of teams participating in this tournament, a total number of 26 umpires were selected to officiate in this year’s edition.

Bal Rao was the Tournament Director, and he was assisted by Mohd Yazid Yunus. The Umpires Manager was Jaswant Singh with Ahmad Fahlawi and Rosdi Pilus as his assistants.

The tournament saw a total of 15 men’s teams divided into four groups with 3 to 4 teams each, whereas the women’s tournament saw 12 teams divided into three groups of four teams each.

The umpiring selection for this year’s tournament was a combination mixture of our top and upcoming umpires. With this setup, the UC’s intentions were for the top ranked umpires to share their knowledge with the juniors, at the same time to assist them and to enhance their leadership skills. The UC hoped the upcoming umpires gained a lot from this experience in order to enhance their umpiring skills.

Umpires who officiated in the Finals were:

Men’s – Amirul Rashid (SEL) & SJN Norazhar (ATM)

Women’s – Ayu Malina (JHR) & Nor Hafiza (KL)
